Today, homosexuality is unfortunately often not accepted and is considered "abnormal" and "against nature." Everyone should realize that this can't actually be true, but it's not easy to change that. Gay stars, however, could be a good step in the right direction.

Gay Stars as Role Models

Many people see stars as role models because of their fame and presence in the public eye. There are also many gay stars who are then role models to people. Gay stars have a great influence on the public and could thus influence people to see that homosexuality is actually nothing bad and totally normal. When gay stars come out, it encourages other gay people to come out as well. In the best case, that increases tolerance toward homosexuality. In the past it was completely different, since gay stars were often afraid to come out. Their image might get damaged, after all. Fortunately that's no longer the case today.

Gay Stars - The Best Known

Most people know the actor Neil Patrick Harris as "Barney" in the successful series "How I Met Your Mother." There he plays a man who has several women a week and is a total player. In real life, though, Neil Patrick Harris is one of the gay stars! With many people you simply don't expect them to be gay stars, especially not with him because of his role.

Gay stars are often found in well-known series. The series star Jim Parsons, who plays "Sheldon" in the series "The Big Bang Theory," is also gay.

Gay stars are found everywhere, most of all where you least expect it. Surely there are still many who haven't dared to come out yet. That isn't bad at all, though. Gay stars should come out so that tolerance toward homosexuality finally rises.
